Harvard Business Review named the job of a Business Analytics / Data scientist the "sexiest job of the 21st century". Analytics is t he hottest technology topics of the world now. According to TeamLease, a staffing solutions company, data scientists with around 5 years experience are earning over Rs 75 lakh per annum as compared to Rs 8-15 lakh for CAs and Rs 5-8 lakh for engineers with the same experience level. Analytics is one of the Highest paying careers in India presently.
Business Analytics as a term referring to the processes, technologies and techniques, which turn data into information and knowledge that useful for business decisions. The graduates of this program will develop knowledge and competencies on various analytical tools and technologies to collect and analyse data for generating business intelligence and support different functional areas of organizations belonging to various industry domains. Business Analytics are used in almost all industries including financial services, retail, healthcare, manufacturing, energy, oil & gas, telecom, sports, social media, gaming, e-commerce, e-governance etc.
While, it is difficult to ascertain the exact number of analytics jobs openings; by our estimates, close to 50,000 positions related to analytics are currently available to be filled in India. Compared to worldwide estimates, India contributes just 12% of open jobs opening currently. The number of jobs in India are likely to increase much faster vs. the rest of the world as more analytics projects get outsourced to India due to lack of skills across the world.
After undergoing the MBA (Business Analytics) programme, students will have a strong foundation on Fundamentals of Business Analytics, DBMS & Data Warehousing, Multivariate Data Analysis, Time Series Econometrics, Data Mining for Business Analytics, Predictive Modeling, Analytics with R. The courses will have practical component assessed through Practical Examination and Viva-Voce. Internship and Project Work are the major components in the III and IV semesters.
Eligibility: B.Tech / BE in any discipline, B.Sc (PCM) or B.Sc (Maths); BA (Economics/ Math/ Statistics); B.Com, BBA with minimum 50% marks from a recognized University
